Mano Tinta Wines

History of Mano Tinta

Mano Tinta wines, “Red Hand” in Spanish, are dedicated to the pride and commitment of farm workers to their craft. All of the grapes, materials and services used to make these wines are generously donated year after year, and the wines are made at Talley Vineyards. The first vintage of Mano Tinta was produced in 2004, with 500 cases of Syrah bottled.

All proceeds from the sale of Mano Tinta wines benefit The Fund for Vineyard and Farm Workers, an endowment created by Brian and Johnine Talley in 2004 to help fund programs that benefit farm workers and their families in San Luis Obispo County in the areas of healthcare, housing, and children's services. The goal of the Fund is to raise $100,000 each year, and to award grants each spring to organizations throughout the county. The Fund is held at the Community Foundation in San Luis Obispo.

Winemakers, winegrowers and local businesses interested in becoming involved in the Mano Tinta project are encouraged to contact Leslie Mead, Winemaker at Talley Vineyards: leslie@talleyvineyards.com. For more information about The Fund for Vineyard and Farm Workers, please contact Janice Fong Wolf at the Community Foundation of San Luis Obispo County 805-543-2323.
